The JBL Tune 510BT is a lightweight wireless on-ear headphone designed for everyday music, calls, entertainment and travel. It uses JBL’s signature Pure Bass Sound and Bluetooth 5.0 for wireless listening without cables. JBL rates the Tune 510BT for up to 40 hours of battery life, with USB-C charging and a quick-charge feature that can provide about 2 hours of playback from a 5-minute charge. It also supports multi-point connection, allowing you to switch between two connected devices, and has a built-in microphone for hands-free calls. (JBL)
The Tune 510BT is tuned around JBL’s Pure Bass sound signature, making it particularly suitable for listeners who enjoy energetic bass in music. It is a good choice for everyday listening to music, podcasts, YouTube, movies and other entertainment from your phone, tablet or laptop. The headphones use 32mm dynamic drivers and have a stated wireless frequency response of 20Hz–20kHz. (JBL Kenya)
One of the biggest strengths of the JBL Tune 510BT is battery life. JBL specifies up to 40 hours of wireless playback, which is considerably more convenient than having to recharge budget wireless headphones every day. When the battery does run low, USB-C charging makes topping up straightforward. A 5-minute quick charge can provide approximately 2 hours of additional playback, according to JBL. (JBL)
The JBL Tune 510BT uses Bluetooth 5.0 for wireless audio streaming. It also supports Multi-Point Connection, allowing you to keep the headphones connected to two devices and switch between them when necessary. For example, you can use them with your laptop while working and remain connected to your smartphone for calls. (JBL)
The built-in microphone allows you to make and receive hands-free calls without removing the headphones. You can also use the headphone controls to manage music and calls, while the integrated voice-assistant function supports Siri and Google Assistant on compatible devices. (JBL)
At approximately 160g, the Tune 510BT is designed to be lightweight and easy to carry. Its foldable construction makes it more convenient to store in a bag when travelling, commuting, going to school, working or simply moving around Nairobi. The on-ear design and adjustable headband are intended for everyday comfort rather than the bulkier fit of full over-ear headphones. (JBL)
The JBL Tune 510BT is an older, entry-level JBL model, so don't buy it expecting the features or sound experience of newer JBL ANC headphones such as the Tune 770NC. Most importantly, it does NOT have Active Noise Cancellation (ANC). It is an on-ear headphone rather than a fully enclosing over-ear model, so it won't isolate external noise as effectively as larger ANC headphones. (Phone Hub Kenya)
That said, if your priority is genuine JBL sound, strong bass, wireless Bluetooth connectivity, very good battery life, portability and a relatively simple everyday headphone, the Tune 510BT remains a practical option. Its 40-hour battery, USB-C charging, multi-point connectivity and foldable design are still useful features for everyday users. (JBL)
